TROMSO

This city is the capital of the region of Troms and the most important city in the north of the country.

Its streets and port attest to its history of Polar adventures. Intrepid explorers such as Amundsen, Nansen and Sverdrup disembarked here after completing long expeditions to the northernmost reaches of the Arctic.

The city has a young and lively atmosphere, as it is home to the world´s most northernmost university. Polar museums, great restaurants with Nordic cuisine and a varied cultural scene make Tromso an obligatory stop-over on any polar expedition.

The city is nestled in a natural setting of great beauty between straits, islands and mountains just a few kilometres away from the imposing Lyngen Alps.
